Hey shrives, I understand you don't take too kindly to me and i have come to terms with this and just accepted it, But would it be possible to be taken off the recruit status in the organisation. If that isn't to much trouble. Thank you!

That does sound epic, especially the getting pissed bit, wonder if you can fit out your ship with a bar. :hmmm:

 

 

 

Yes you can fit your ship with a bar and you can get drunk and stumble around.

Pre Alpha still a lot to do and games being hyped up a lot but form what I've seen and experienced so far its on track to what they promised and even tho there isn't much to do atm i still  having fun. So here is a little update to whats happening.... 

 

 

Quick insight, essentially the game is going to be in its simplest form market based.  You run missions to make money and upgrade you ship ( weapons engine etc... ) then run more complex missions deeper into space where the profit is higher but so is the risk. Get to a point where you start building your own fleet and can start owning things like a weapons manufacturing ship and sell ammo or an oil refinery while other player use it and pay for your services. But you will need to pay other player to bring you materials the larger it gets. You can set up blockades and get npc to help.  Or get the contract for a ambulance / search and rescue  services where people pay your organisation.  Organisations can own areas of space and can also ally up with other organisations.

 

Make money from -

- npc missions both on planet FPS walk around and space dog fighting.

- Mining resources 

- escort missions for NPC or other players can hire your organisation.

- bounty hunting

- science research mission

- black market

- etc the normal stuff

 

 

But to keep it interesting bigger events will be held e.g a plant recently had a natural disaster and they need x amount of food delivered or a planet will be destroyed in say 1 week game time and we need to evacuate a x amount of the population and you get a reward for doing so. Wars will happen both on mass scale and small scale.

 

The following are being implemented into the game;

 

-  They are implementing aliens boarding your ship when you land on strange planets. After  you take off and for example 10 mins later you get a warning of an unidentified life form detected and as the game is FPS you walk around your ship with your crew and hunt aliens lol 

 

- You can target ship engines and disable them and board the ship, fight and take or kill prisoners. Take cargo and scrap the ship, sell it's weapons. 

 

-  You can't combat log or your ship will be easy picking so park it some where with security or hide it well. Have to plan your deep space runs like a dungeon run.

 

- Multi crew ships, so far biggest I've seen is 10. Gun turrets and people controlling navigation system or radar ...... etc. You can walk around drink and get drunk, sleep, use the toilet while some one is flying.  The walk through example shown on YouTube is actually pretty impressive of the 5 person multi crew ship. 

 

 

- Will have support roles in ships, some one can run engineer to repair ships on the move in deep space or repair robots for quick fixes to get you to a repair ship or planet. Land on a planet or asteroid while some one repair and other proved security. Refueling ships and ammo resupply ships. So really deep space explorations can be organised. Also applies for on ground have medics and support for ammo. 

 

- Ships will be like used cars after time will not look brand new lol

 

- players can affect a whole planet by bringing in lots of resources for sale or the opposite stopping other players from bring in recourse  can see a planets economy change e.g certain products are cheaper as a result of RtD shipping in larger amounts of material x. Doing so over game time will see building change on the planet go from poorer looking design to more modern look or the opposite. Cities expand and contract. 

 

- TV missiles will be implemented on multi crew ships fk yes lol

 

- insurance will be cheaper if you have a good flying record lol 

 

 

 

 

 Yeah lots of info but the above mention are in the process of being implemented. 

 

 

As i said yes very early stage but its looking promising and actually haven't run into any bugs while playing and actually having fun.

That was a point brought up and the reply was pretty much you don't have to worry about it to much as you can choose to put in what you want. Noting forces you to exceed it. If you want you can only do flying mission. Be plenty of NPC missions to keep you interested.

.....umm.... they got a full back story going and history books being written and single player goes for a while but can go for so much longer if you actually listen to the story line. The history book will be updated as the game goes on so they where saying your organisations name would be added in if you complete a mission first or if a player kills a certain NPC ( red baron of the future ) sooo yeah its going like over the top into back stories and what not.

The last run i had, Changed the controls around a little and matched battlefield LOL and it works well for me. Fighting in asteroid fields and still able to take targets down and not crash. Even uses larger rocks to break combat and start fresh.

Is that on the default ship? As they changed the aiming mechanism since the last time I played it (I think it used to be more like Freelancer) so I've had to learn that all over again.

Nah she's the 325a long range fighter, as the name suggest she's for longer range voyages. Can do long range jumps and escort cargo ships and what not. Can beat tradition fights from range and has more speed but close up not as good but as you see in the video  still can deal a lot of damage. 

 

Yeah after the patch they changed it a far bit to balance they dog fighting and majority of the community is quite happy with it. Little getting used to but its good. You pick it up after a run on free run and then jump on swarm to do some basic dog fighting.

Yeah I haven't done any runs against bots since the patch. I just couldn't work out where to aim.

 

I've got a Freelancer, but as that's mainly a cargo ship I don't think I can bring it in to any dogfighting (and likely not that I'd want to).

A little tutorial photo for you, got your original cross hairs and off that there is a dotted like coming off it. On that line you will have either a circle or triangle or both. This dictates where your shots will fall.  You have different shapes for different weapons as they have different power setting and can be slower and faster.

 

You have to be locked onto a target for it to work. By pressing "T" to find a target and your weapons system works out the fall of shot. In the photo you can see the enemy is highlighted red and also shows up on the top right hand side which shows you where its been damaged.  

 

Yeah with out the fall of shot indicators it will be so hard to work it out as you're constantly changing directions and speed.

Ah yep, that makes sense. I think I was aiming at the circle or triangle, but I probably wasn't sure which symbol was for which weapon group.

 

I've got a very busy weekend, but I might look into having another fly sometime as a break between reports. Thanks for the heads up.

Is that all the different names you had to create?

 

My login name is jwshrive, my in game name is MasterShrive and I have a feeling there was a third name that I made MasterShrive as well. I presume the login had to be unique, but not necessarily the other names. Something you want to get right though and it's not an easy system.
