NOOBshoes 44 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 agreed dude. i have seen both aswell and i rather like them. they bring about the classic feel of band of brothers (for me) Go to top Share this post Link to post
Duckz 474 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 Yeah, I've downloaded the first 2 in 720p. Should be another good mini series. Will definately buy it on blu-ray to put beside Band of Brothers. Go to top Share this post Link to post
MasterShrive 2,015 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 ^Yeah, I'll be doing the same Duckz. Then I can pass the DVD copy of BoB on to Nath as a birthday present or something... lol. Go to top Share this post Link to post
Nath 98 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 lol, yeah the Pacific is definitely worth watching, over the last couple of weeks I've started watching the Big Bang Theory too it's a pretty decent show, quite funny, but probably wouldn't be to everyones tastes Go to top Share this post Link to post
Datechnoman 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 yeah, ive watched it a few time and it is quiet funny and enjoyable Go to top Share this post Link to post
NevilleBartos 405 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 i dunno if i had my hopes too high for the pacific or not but it's not really doing it for me, too much drama and not enough action from what ive seen of the first 3 episodes, hope it gets a bit better.... Go to top Share this post Link to post
MasterShrive 2,015 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 Three?! Hell, I'd better get downloading... Go to top Share this post Link to post

Yeah I'm not sure its been as good so far, but they may just be because I find the European theatre of war more interesting Go to top Share this post Link to post
MasterShrive 2,015 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 I think the training of the Marines would have been interesting. But obviously they thought they had enough to cover with this theatre. Go to top Share this post Link to post
Nath 98 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 Yeah, true, I reckon the training in Band of Brothers was a perfect way to get to know the characters so would've been good Go to top Share this post Link to post
Krak 8 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 won't be DL it, but looking forward to see it - Nev, you have me thinking it may be like that movie "Pearl Harbour" - too much drama and romance. I feel war movies are a great way of learning history.....if done properly and objectively. Think of the Australian War Movies made through the 1980s. I have great faith in Jeremy Simm's "Hill 60". MasterShrive 2,015 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 That looks like it'll be pretty good. Go to top Share this post Link to post
MasterShrive 2,015 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 Well I've just watched Ep III and I quite enjoyed it. *small spoilers below* It was great to see old Melbourne and the MCG shown off. Looked really good. Also great to see some Aussie actors amongst the cast. Our accent really stands out when placed beside the American one, lol. Go to top Share this post Link to post
MasterShrive 2,015 Report post Posted May 22, 2010 Well, now she's all over what did people think? Obviously a high risk of spoilers, so if you find yourself a few episodes behind it might be best not to view this thread just yet Personally, I liked it, but it did not have as big an impact as Band of Brothers - which is ultimately what everyone will compare it to. I probably didn't relate to the characters as much, which in part is because in BoB I knew about a lot of the locations while with TP I did not know as much. A lot of this is because of the CoD games. I still remember when I first watched BoB and saw Carentan appear over the hill - that was amazing, and a scene I've since seen a hundred times. However, even though I've played CoD5 through, I still didn't relate to the islands on the same level. All that said, I've only watched PT the one time and I've watched BoB through on numerous occasions - so when I get the Blu-rays and watch them again I may appreciate them more. All in all I thought it was a worthwhile watch though and showed as per usual just how horrible these battles were. Go to top Share this post Link to post
NOOBshoes 44 Report post Posted May 22, 2010 agreed with shrives. and beneath hill 60 was excellent in my opinion. truthfully the best aussie movie i have ever seen by far Go to top Share this post Link to post
Blueberry 444 Report post Posted May 24, 2010 On topic, Band of Brothers was far superior the the pacific. Action was way better, and i flet sad after a character died, not so much in teh pacific. Kind of on topic, just talking about Australian movies about war. A great Australian movie about the invasion of East Timor by Indonesia is "Balibo" , revolves around the Balibo 5. If you haven't seen it i suggest you do. Go to top Share this post Link to post
MasterShrive 2,015 Report post Posted May 24, 2010 Ah yes, that one was on my to do list as well. I'll have to get on to that. Go to top Share this post Link to post
