Star Wars: Battlefront II

Recommended Posts

Figured we may as well have a topic for this. I still feel burnt by the last game. No server browser, as well as a clunky perks and weapons system made the last game almost a non-starter for me. Anyone going to look at this one though? I'm worried some of the class stuff may remain fairly complicated. And if it doesn't come with a server browser then I'm not really sure I see the point...

I like the idea that they are saying there will be no season pass or dlc, so everyone can play everything.

But yeah, it is a bit worrying after the last one.

It's going to be a case of wait and see for me.

I never bought the old one, but I don't trust EA enough to put any money into it until it's proven itself.

It was pure and utter rubbish to try and find matches in last year's game. I wanted to try some of the different gametypes - but with no browser, I couldn't see if ANY of them had people queuing, let alone the particular one I wanted. So after sitting in the match maker for five or so minutes and having basically zero people join, I'd get bored and either close the game or just go back to the same old conquest. A server browser should not be an optional extra in my opinion.

Could the SP be enough to sway me though? Maybe, but I have plenty of Star Wars games I need to play as it is and I'd just as likely go back to SWTOR.

Yeah its Star Wars so I'm probs in for this. Had enough fun in the first one and it sounds like they are listening to the complaints. Read initial launch content will include a whole lot more the first one. Sounds like they will improve the class system and there looks to be more customisation for the upgrades. Also there is single player campaign which will be Canon.

Has anyone locked this in yet? I don't want to get too excited by it... but I am hoping it turns out okay. The last one really didn't get enough play time.

i would like to say i wont buy it due to the experience of the the first one....

but whos kidding ill end up getting it.

the fact that there is no season pass is a good thing imo and might give some longevity to the game

also like the single player side to add some hours

I'll definitely get it, Star Wars games for me are all about any small amount of story they can add to what's already available. The book leading into this game was also quite good which has convinced me further to get it.

So Steam just started updating this for me. That is, the 2005 version of the game. I read they've put some servers up for it temporarily? Is it worth having a look?

Edit: to clarify, I've never played the game. I got it in a Steam Star Wars pack a while ago.

As in the original Battlefront 2?

Probably more people playing it than the latest Battlefront... wonder how bad the controls have held up...

I wouldn't mind seeing if anyone is around playing it and giving it a bash

I'll be up for a game at some stage.

I just had a few rounds then, seems kind of fun, whether I'd pay ~$80 for it is another question.

Agree Duckz,

Was some good fun, but I can see if going the same route as the first.

Will say that it was good fun shooting Darth Maul in the face though.

I've got it downloaded. Might fire it up soon. Before I even try to get excited; does it have a server browser?

And I agree about the price tag. Much harder to find Origin games on sale though. If anyone finds a good price I'd be much more willing to jump on board.
