I'm interested in this Doom if they can capture the old school gameplay, I loved the idea of Quake 2 and Doom back in the day where there were hidden passages and random things around. But from everything they still haven't added random secret areas into it

On topic the downloading was a pain in the rear end, but the single player is real good, better than I have seen for decades.

Secrits are a plenty, the gore is over the top, the sound track is a good mix of electronica and metal and I found a ........

 

Hidden level from the old doom complete with sound track, old sprite pick ups and monsters from the new game in place of the originals

 

The single player is awesome the multi is meh.

Since we're talking about games of old. If you guys liked the old Wolfenstein, the new one is quite excellent too. Has old hidden levels within the game, same as Doom(Bethesda are behind both, no surprise). Wolf and now Doom are looking like great SP games.

 

I didn't really enjoy the MP of Doom either Dreddy, felt very very meh. Doom should stick to SP

the single player is amazing so far. first time in a long time I actual feel immersed in the game and fear for my life.

the respawn points are just far enough back that you dont want to die without it being a dam i have to play 30 mins again

you need to be smart with your approach to battles or your dead before you realise it

there are secrets in the maps that you need to search for but i havnt found the one you mentioned so would be interested to know how far in it was

 

played some MP last night and although i enjoyed it dont think i will spend much time in it unless a few clannies have it and want to play

i did like the fact you can turn into a demon and reap hell

other than that i found without the levels you dont have the good weapons and your just cannon fodder early

the match making was pretty bad to. played one game where all of my team was under level 4 and the whole other team was above lvl 30 (some +40) and it wasn't even a contest we were just lambs to the slaughter

 

im still having issues with the graphics unfortunately making me ill after about 30-40 mins on single player (didn't seem to worry me on mp) been reading some stuff on-line and there seems to be quite a few people in the same boat and have some suggestions now to turn off motion blur and increase the FOV that seems to help some and a couple of other tricks im going to try tonight otherwise im going to be a sad panda.

 

its weird how some game engines generate this. could never play half life for this reason as well but can play battlefield and cod all day without a worry

Switch that motion blur off its just fluff, FOV to 100+ and turn the mouse smoothing off "+set m_smooth 0" in the launch options and happy days.

My system runs this at 100+ FPS most of the time and it is butter smooth.

The secrit I found is in the foundry level there is a lever hidden in plain sight in the main "hub" area.

fov 100 ( tried 110 but any more and it becomes fish eyes view for me)

turned off cinematic mode

turned up sharpness setting to max

lense flare and dirt on visor off

and a couple of things to try and get it to 

saw about the mouse smoothing

 

so i press ~ and punch in the code in game

puts my game into developer mode calls me a cheater and that my save games are now marked and locks me out of MP until i turn dev mode off!!!

 

only way to fix this from searching is to delete your save game 

this game is quickly becoming not worth my time

 

i did find the secret doom level on 2nd play through

 

other issue im having and it may be a nightmare lvl thing is that i can see a mini map in game

lots of vids i have seen show one come up when you press tab and shows you an indication of where the secret things are ect but this doesnt work for me

Yep Tab for map and all your customizations. I am currently on "hurt me plenty" difficulty but i tried nightmare and the map works fine.

You should put that code in the launch options in steam, not in console.

fock multi player its just a glittered up turd.

I guess thats what we get for being part of the PC master race, everyone's hardware is different and therefore every game runs different.

Are you useing anything that may be thought as a bit out of the box (SLI, X-Fire, hybrid drives, etc)

 

I guess I'm hoping the issues get ironed out because after the D/Ling 44GB at a stupid slow speed, it has been a very positive.
