The quickest example that comes to my mind is the Clone Wars animated series. Whilst it's very good at fleshing out a lot of the wider universe and story for the Clone Wars, there was a loooooot of silly shit in that show. I agree with Noods and Pench. Some really really silly writing sprinkled around. Having finished Fallen Order, I noticed that the Second Sister said the line "I am what you made me". Then Vader uses the same line in the show. Now, Vader gets his masked sliced twice in the same manner as Ahsoka did to him. HMMMMMMMM, starting to repeat things which removes the specialness about it. A little guttered, tbh. 2 Go to top Share this post Link to post
MasterShrive 2,012 Report post Posted June 23, 2022 I agree that they did well tidying up a few things going into ANH. The fight scene was fantastic. I expected to hear Qui Gon when he was covered in rubble to help him get out. I did not expect to see him at the end; that was just icing on the cake. As was the "hello there". I think the final fight was spectacular enough to make sense in ANH when Vader goes "I sense something; a presence I've not felt since...". He's clearly going to remember this showdown, where he still got his arse kicked. So now the question is, do we see a season 2? Do we want/need a season 2? Finally, we're just leaving Reva around with the knowledge of who Darth Vader is and his kids? Okie doke. 1 Go to top Share this post Link to post

Cass questioned a lot of Reva's storyline, she couldn't believe Vader and the GI kept her alive and I had to explain the Sith are more interested in future manipulation and use of their agents rather than just offing them because they are threats. But yeah I feel like Reva's character was both well and terribly written in some parts. Go to top Share this post Link to post
MasterShrive 2,012 Report post Posted June 23, 2022 And as Vader proved, she's definitely not a threat to them. Kenobi couldn't even bring himself to finish off Vader a second time around, so I'm not surprised he chose to doing nothing about Reva either. Go to top Share this post Link to post
Noods 290 Report post Posted June 23, 2022 (edited) Yeah Pench clone wars is hard to get through. Lots of filla between some awesome killa! I should stop saying Disney as its still made by Lucas Film. But yeah has been a problem for a while now even before the Disney takeover. I think stems from the prequels and continued on where they tried to make it too much for kids while also trying to keep the adult audience and have never gotten the mix right and most times just down right wrong. The OT was never made for kids but George made that much money of the Merchandising that he fell into the trap of making it too much for kids to sell toys and as you know what Disney is all about its definitely been exacerbated! Loved the Hello There trow back as well. Probably the most all time SW meme out there. I was expecting Qiu Gon's Voice as well Shrives. Yeah Vader leaving Reva alive just points out the tad bits of bad writing. Just make her escape some how by the skin of her teeth etc. It's littered with this type of stuff through out the series. Like Vader pulling down one ship escaping so why not the second? Doesn't ruin it for me but stops the series from being fully awesome instead of just good. Phobos 1,208 Report post Posted October 16, 2022 Seems that they are doing 3 episode arcs, so if you haven't started yet. Watching now with 6 episodes out is very satisfying. Amazing how well written and acted this show is so far. Very adult themes - surprising from Disney. You wouldn't really know it was a SW show if you didn't know SW. Wow. I particularly enjoyed the security meetings and all the bureaucratic mumbo jumbo. Very unique side to see on screen for SW. Just please don't make the security Imp lady turn to the rebels. I want dark themes for a change. This show makes Boba and OB1 look really bad now. Seems to be a theme, the off center SW movies/shows are the ones where they can experiment more. Like Rogue One and Solo. Same vibes. 1 Go to top Share this post Link to post

Phobos 1,208 Report post Posted October 25, 2022 The show doesn't seem to be getting a lot of attention fan wise. Shame really, it'll put D+ off from making more of this content and just back to pew pew lasers swords and space wizards. They already pulled the plug/paused the Rogue Squadron movie - this might just be because they got rid of the director but it doesn't bode well. Top Gun in space, how can you go wrong? Naaaaah, back to Skywalker! 1 Go to top Share this post Link to post

Helps that this is my fav time period of SW. Also for me SW was always about the rebels vs the empire. Jedi/Sith stuff, altho cool, always took a back seat to a good old blaster fight or a squadron of x-wings going up against a super star destroyer. Loving the political insight into this time period as well as how the rebels were working from the inside before the Emperor dissolved the senate. Just wish we could have gotten this quality in the sequels and the rest of the series they've put out. I think there hasn't been as much attention fan-wise because everyone is just enjoying it and there has been no bickering between the fan base online. 2 Go to top Share this post Link to post
