Star Wars *Contains Spoilers*

Recommended Posts

Went and seen TROS this evening with my brother, and i must say i was quite happy with how they wrapped up the Skywalker saga, enjoyed the cameo from the guy who played Wedge Antilles.

Spoiler

The fight at the end with Palpatine and Rey, i actually enjoyed hearing all the voices of former jedi (Obi Wan, Anikin, Qui-Gon, Yoda, Luke and even Leia)

One of my major gripes was with Leia was a jedi? i get that she had her magical moment in TLJ, but the fact that suddenly Luke was training her back in the day.. had me shocked, was a little sad that Kylo died, but it made sense as to why. Also didnt expect Rey to be a grand daughter of Palpatine.

Speaking of Star Wars. The last episode of The Mandalorian came out this week. Wow, what an excellent show....The first 5 minutes with the speeder troops in the last episode had me sit up as I was watching. Just that scene was better than all 3 new movies :P Very unique and fresh.

That scene was written and acted by Jason Sudeikis, his Wikipedia page was promptly updated so the first sentence described his hitting of Baby Yoda 😂

I have seen TROS. If i could describe is in one word, fine. It's just fine.

Plot holes and rushed forced narrative using macguffins aplenty.  It seems like they were trying so hard to retcon what the last jedi retconed but also tried to finish the saga in JJs mind that he totally had in his mind from day dot.

I think the biggest disservice they have done is not having the story arch thought out from the start. It really shows in the sloppiness of the story telling. Which is a shame because i think the cast of characters they created are quite good.

Had some decent action and some pretty cool force abilities, but felt more like a mediocre pacifier to star-wars fans rather than a solid wrap up to a 9 movie Journey.

Spoiler

If Palatine was never actually defeated then the whole Anakin chosen one story line is superfluous. what are the chances of standing at the right spot on the right beach to have that dagger line up? and why would they want to track the sith items like that? Where did the first order get all the resources and the personal to fly a fleet of that size? More death stars, really palapatine? like whats your plan, to be the emperor of blown up plannets? and where the fuck do ll these sith follo.. never mind, the more it think about the story the more i dislike the movie so ima stop.

The Mandalorian was pretty solid.  Quality dipped a bit in the middle but finished strong.

The person who Designed Baby Yoda needs a pay rise though, think of all the merchandise sales.

I think the speeder Chase at the end of the Previous episode was even better. What a great way to ratchet tension and a fantastic reveal to how it ended.

I Still think the last Jedi is the best actual film in the whole series (except maybe episode 5). Except for casino planet. That whole section can die in a fire pit.

The last season of The Clone Wars just finished. Amazing work in the last 3 episodes. The sound track, the visuals. Spot on.

Yeah just finished it last night.

Typical Clone wars. Starts off meh then finishes like a master piece.

Spoiler

From here onwards is the Timeline I love it the most, when the empire hunts down the Jedi. We really haven't got too many cannon stories during this Period leading up to Rebels and is what I thought we were going to get a good dose of in the Prequels.  Thats also one of the reasons I loved Jedi Fallen Order as it falls in this time period.

Really want to see Ahsoka's story continue. I feel like she has one of the best character arcs in all of Star Wars! Ahsoka followed the Jedi ways more then the Jedi did but ended up disenfranchised with them. She had similar reservations about the path they were taking as Yoda did but actually acted on them and left.

The last couple of episodes, and in particular the last one was such a jump up in quality. The cinematography was amazing, the music was original and fitting. The fight choreography was sick as well. Oh why why why could we not get this kind of quality for the new trilogy :(

Wonder if we will ever get to see where this all ends after she takes off after Ezra and Thrawn?

I think the same every time I hear there's a new movie out :( I recently watched the last one - kinda glad I didn't see it in the movies. Never rolled me eyes so much.

I'm sure we'll see Ezra and Thrawn again. They left it pretty open. Feels like they have a plan for it....the movies, not so.

I haven't watched it yet, but I've been watching The Clone Wars basically since it first came out. Great series.

I just need to activiate my free trial...

Yeah, if you're doing it because you enjoyed it. If it's because you want to refresh, not so much....Pretty long haul.

Yeah that's what gets me with The Clone Wars. So many episodes aimed at kids with completely irrelevant story lines that I was bored out of my mind with. Then you get to the end and it builds up to something really good.

I really couldn't do the whole thing again myself.  Quite a few episodes each season as well so would be a bit of a grind IMO

I'd say go for it. Not sure if a list exists somewhere of important/best episodes from each season - that could allow you to shortcut a little bit perhaps.

I found a list of recommended story arcs.

Alot of  shit in season 1 if superfluous. And fuck R2 (come at me)

I finally activated a two week free trial for Disney+. It was expiring yesterday, so I had to finish off the last four episodes of The Clone Wars and the last two of The Mandalorian in quick succession.

Spoiler

A great wrap up to The Clone Wars. Solid use of the characters and a great overlap with Order 66. I always thought the end of Season 6 was fitting; but I'm glad they added on a little bit more.

Reading about some of the story lines they had to cancel, there was a great one with Maul that would have expanded upon his role with the crime syndicates (and probably would have been a good lead in to Solo). Alas.

The Mandalorian was great fun too. I'd been looking forward to watching this, and was not disappointed.

The TV series just show what can be done with the depth of the Star Wars universe. I'd really like to see some High Republic action - multiple Sith and Jedi all together. The action scenes could be amazing (as were the ones in TCW and TM).

I also agree with Blue's comments above about the last trilogy. I think a lot of Star Wars fans feel betrayed, especially given what they've shown they can achieve with the Marvel IP ;( Then again, people felt let down by the prequels when they first came out (even though they're possibly my favourites) - so maybe we're just not the target grouping anymore.

Yeah but KOTOR is better than all 9 movies combined...

None of the Star Wars movies are "great"

^Careful buddy.

That is amazing though graphics wise. Although it really annoys me when videos are uploaded with the black bars when I have an ultrawide monitor.

Anyone watched Boba Fett yet? It's on my list of holiday watching. I just need to finish The Witcher first, then Hawkeye, The Wheel of Time, Expanse...

Jedi Knight series > KOTOR series.

and Rogue One is the greatest :P

Might start Fett tonight or at least this week, Shrivey. Very keen to see how it goes.

We played a little bit of Jedi Knight III at uni on our LAN and it was great fun.

Was that the kind of gameplay you could have in the original Battlefront games? Anyone could be any class?

Oh nice, that would have been great fun. Did you mean Jedi Knight II? and tell me you all ran with dismemberment turned on, haha.

Not sure, I didn't play much of the Battlefront games tbh.
